Comfortable living space carved out of the hillside.
Tucked away in Portland’s west hills, this ranch makeover has created more front yard living and entertaining space. An existing railroad tie wall was replaced by a rockery to allow for a firepit patio, a graceful and stylish concrete walkway to the front door and northwest natural plantings with some Japanese elements.
A True Transformation
The property now reflects the taste and personality of its owners. It feels open and modern, with a cultural shift from a west to east. The design departs from the compartmental containment approach towards a more incorporated yet balanced geometric asymmetry.
